Harald Halvorsen AS was established in 1945 in Haugesund by average adjuster Harald Halvorsen. The rebuilding in Europe after the war created a great need of carriage by sea and through sale/purchase and chartering the firm took part in this development.
The company started as chartering broker with focus on shortsea. After short time the company became involved in sale/purchase. During the 1950’ies sale & purchase became a greater part of the companies business and has ever since been a main part of the company’s core business and have besides chartering been the main activity.
Operation and ship management have also been an important part of the companies activity. In cooperation with different owners the company have run a vary numbers of ships.
